IMPLEMENTATION OF USING TF LEG VS FC-CF ON LOCALIZER BASED PROCEDURES

05 January 2018 In accordance with ARINC 424-21 documentation, Jeppesen will begin using TF legs instead of FC-CF legs on the last leg of approach transitions on localizer based procedures. This document serves as the contractually required advanced notification for implementation of the new coding rules and practices scheduled for implementation in AIRAC cycle 1802, effective date 01 Feb 2018.

Jeppesen has used FC-CF leg combination on the last leg of approach transitions to a localizer based procedures when the last leg was greater than 8nm, reference ARINC 6.3.6.5. Due to issues caused by the magnetic variation differences between VORs and Localizers being used as recommended navaids, for these legs, Jeppesen has decided to code a TF leg verses FC-CF on the last leg of an approach transition to a Localizer based procedure. Jeppesen will only code FC-CF leg combination when VOR and Localizer have the same magnetic variation.
